Popis: | Virgin male Long—Evans rats were treated with intranasal application of zinc sulfate solution or saline placebo. Zinc-treated animals failed to exhibit normal social-investigatory behavior when exposed to novel females; mounting behavior, however, was not similarly depressed. Multiple zinc treatments caused a sustained reduction in social investigation for the 20-day period of testing. The results are attributed to zinc-induced peripheral anosmia. |
