Popis: | A mphotericin B remains the standard treatment for serious mycotic infections such as coccidioidomycosisl Amphotericin B is associated with several notable complications such as nephrotoxicity,2 anemia, fever, and ~hills.~ Lethal complications, such as pulmonary decompensation4 and ventricular fibrillation,5 have rarely been reported. Myocardial dysfunction secondary to amphotericin B has never been previously described. In this report we describe a patient who, while receiving amphotericin B for disseminated coccidioidomycosis, developed dilated cardiomyopathy with clinical congestive heart failure. Cardiac dysfunction reversed after treatment with amphotericin B was terminated. |
