A hexadecafluorovanadylphthalocyanine (F16VOPc)/vanadylphthalocyanine (VOPc) heterostructure was fabricated by organic molecular beam epitaxy (OMBE) at 100°C on KBr. The structure was analyzed by transmission electron diffraction (TED) analysis and atomic force microscopy (AFM). It was revealed that the F16VOPc layer grows orientationally on the VOPc layer epitaxially grown on KBr. The lattice structures of F16VOPc are different on KBr and on VOPc; the former has two equivalent square lattices, while the latter has a unidirectional lattice. The F16VOPc layer is composed of pyramidal domains, and their size is smaller than that of F16VOPc domains grown on KBr. In this heterostructure, all the molecular planes of F16VOPc and VOPc are parallel to the KBr surface, which is possibly favorable for charge transfer between the F16VOPc and VOPc layers. |
