Popis:	[reaction--see text] A simple method for determining the absolute configuration of chiral alcohols with a unique chromophoric reagent 1 based on induced exciton chirality has been developed. Practical usefulness of the present method was demonstrated by the determination of the absolute configuration of 17,18-dihydroxybergamottin.
