Popis: | To the Editor: The article by Perry, et al, “Surface Versus Intramuscular Electrodes for Electromyography of Superficial and Deep Muscles” (Phys Ther, January 1981), is of importance to our field. We believe, however, that it was written in an incomprehensible manner and appears to have several procedural problems. We say “appears to have problems” because from the description it is impossible to decipher exactly what was done. The major potential difficulties are as follows: 1) It appears that the authors have mixed isometric and isotonic activities in their muscle testing procedure. 2) It does not appear that the authors tested for maximal activity of the gastrocnemius or soleus muscles. The standard muscle test for these muscles certainly is not a maximal effort. 3) There is no descriptive data of the subjects other than their sex. 4) There is no justification stated for using the wire electrode as the standard.… [ ARTICLE][1] [1]: /lookup/volpage/61/7?iss=1 |
