• According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and CDC, suicide is one of the leading causes of deaths in the United States, taking the lives of over 44,000 Americans each year. In fact, suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the US accounting for 50.8 billion (24%) of the fatal injury cost, an enormous economic implication and loss with suicide. Multiple studies highlight the association between stressors and suicidality. • Strong evidence indicates a link between suicidality and vagally mediated cardiovascular functioning. The relation between resting vagally mediated HRV and suicidal ideation may be interpreted as indicating that reduced inhibitory cognitive control capacity may be a risk factor for suicidality. • Meanwhile little is known about association between HRV and changes in severity of suicidality during inpatient treatment of Baker Acted patients. This study is an attempt to find connection with clinical improvement and objective data obtained from Cardiac monitoring . We sought to explore changes with suicidality severity. |
