Popis: The predominant paradigm for conceptualizing human mental-sentient dynamics today is the one of emotions and it is understood as universal concept. Contemporary psychology of emotions differentiates several types of emotion theories, cognitive being one of them. On the other hand, the researchers of the Natural Semantic Metalanguage (acr. NSM) hypothesis state that the concept of feeling is universal. The Croatian Church Slavonic (acr. CCS) lexis seems to be the witness of the third paradigm – that of passions and affect which has been almost forgotten or unwarrantably mixed with the paradigm of emotions. The paper aims to show similarities and differences of the concepts: emotion, passion, affect, each articulated in the form of explication by the means of NSM and, understandably, using semantic primitive FEEL.
