Popis: | ESTIMATION of renal size as seen on the frontal roentgenogram is of obvious importance in recognition and investigation of kidney disease. Measurements of kidney length on roentgenograms have been performed in normal living adults and normal parameters have been established. 1-3 Hodson et al 4 measured the size of normal kidneys in children ranging in age from the newborn to 16 years and correlated those measurements with the individual's age and height. In their review of 393 cases, they found a steady mean increase in kidney length and in body weight between the ages of 4 and 15 years. Their data indicated a close connection between age and body weight as well as between age and kidney size. A much greater correlation was found between body weight and kidney length than that observed in adults. Since the size of the kidney depends largely on the size of the |
