Popis: | Cognitive impairment and vision impairment frequently co-occur in older adults and confer significant disability. Outpatient vision rehabilitation (VR) improves function in Veterans with vision impairment, but consequences of comorbid cognitive impairment are unknown. We administered the modified Telephone Interview for Cognitive Status (TICS-m) in person to Veterans who presented for outpatient VR in two Veterans Administration clinics, excluding vision impairment due to brain injury. The TICS-m is a validated assessment of cognition; no tasks rely on vision. Of 291 Veterans screened (mean age 78.2 ± 12 years), 136 (46.7%) were cognitively intact (scores 33+), while 15(5.2%) scored |
