Popis: Residual and waste water have become a problem of paramount importance in modern societies [1]. Recently, the number of proposals to solve this issue has incremented importantly [2]. Several methods were proposed since thirty years ago using a wide variety of physical, biological and chemical principles. Biological treatments are cheap and environmentally friendly [3]. Nevertheless, they require a long time to eliminate pollutants and they are limited by the toxicity and initial concentration of the water sample that must be treated [4]. On the other hand, chemical treatments are capable to promote the faster decomposition for a wide range of toxic compounds [5]. Despite this adequate performance to decompose organics dissolved in water, they are hundreds or thousands of times more expensive than pure biological methods [6-11].
