Popis: A sustainable process was demonstrated in outdoor condition in order to generate large scale biomass of the indigenous cyanobacterial strain Arthrospira platensis strain ALG2022. Sustainability was endeavoured to be accomplished via recycling of spent culture medium, using same inoculum for a longer period, and using industrial-grade chemicals in culture medium. The biomass yield of 1.85 g L-1 was resulted from laboratory scale batch cultivation under un-optimised culture conditions, whereas 2.6 g L-1 of biomass titer was resulted at optimised conditions of nitrate, phosphate, and bicarbonate concentrations and initial culture pH of 2.33 g L-1, 0.47 g L-1, 17.7 g L-1 and 9.21 respectively. The biomass titer, protein content, nitrate, and bicarbonate consumption efficiency were found to be 2.92 g L-1, 64.7%, 75.25%, and 83% respectively under 25% dilution of optimised Zarrouk medium. Finally, a semicontinuous mode of cultivation with optimised process parameters was executed in open ponds having cumulative capacity of 80,000 L for 180 days to generate bulk amount of biomass. During large scale cultivation on a semi-continuous basis with optimised parameters; significant amounts of different fatty acids, protein (63.4%), vitamin B12 (7.91 mg), vitamin K (5335 mg), and vitamin B9 (629.64 mg) was experimentally found in harvested biomass. Due to the presence of natural protein, fatty acids and vitamins; this native strain could be exploited for manifold nutraceutical activities.
