Popis: | Ten patients had sagittal computed tomography (CT) done prior to surgery of the temporomandibular joint. The computed tomograms were then compared with the surgical findings and correlated with photographs taken during surgery. Positive correlation was found in all cases between CT and operative findings in assessing disk position and arthritic change. CT was found to be highly accurate for these purposes. The authors believe it to be an excellent adjunctive procedure for patients whose clinical diagnosis is not clear or for patients who do not respond to conservative measures. |
