Popis: | Ten adult men, who as newborns suffered from pyloric stenosis with severe malnutrition, were probably shorter and showed a tendency to a smaller body cell mass than controls. Body fat and fat cell size tended to increase with age in controls and pyloric stenosis subjects. Fat cell number was similar to that of the controls. It was suggested that malnutrition in the earliest period after birth exerts an influence on cell multiplication, but the effect on adipose tissue cellularity is compensated for during recovery from starvation. |
