Popis: | Six hours after injection of turpentine, the haptoglobin index drops to zero in rat serum. Nevertheless, electrophoretic and immunoelectrophoretic studies allow to demonstrate the presence of haptoglobin in this serum. Haptoglobin recovers its hemoglobin-binding capacity after chromatography of the serum through a DEAE cellulose column. It is suggested that, when Hp is combined with an inhibitor I, according to the reaction I + Hp → I-Hp, Hp cannot combine with Hb. |
