FormerFormer general practitioner Leven (b 1918; q Glasgow 1944; MRCGP), died from a stroke on 23 September 2005. Figure 1 After graduating Johnny joined the Royal Army Medical Corps and served with a light anti-aircraft battery, taking part in the Po offensive. He was appointed commanding officer of Britain's No 1 Ambulance Train, with the rank of major. Just before the start of the NHS, Johnny entered partnership in Leven. He was a founding member of the Royal College of General Practitioners and was one of the first GP trainers. He leaves a wife, Margaret; four children; and eight grandchildren. |
