| Popis: | The inexistence and lack of proximity to educational institutions in many places constrain access to education. This study aims to analyze the effect of distance to the educational institution on the likelihood to attend a post-secondary education. The evidence points to a negative relationship between the variables. In addition, by exploring the effect of the creation of public educational institutions as a source of exogenous variation for distance, we could identify that the presence of a new public institution increses in the likelihood of individuals to attend a public higher education in 7,7 p.p., while the probability to attend a private institution decreases. |
