Some considerations on the impact of covid-19 on air transport in Ecuador

| Popis: | Pandemics are phenomena that are part of the history of the world, bringing health, social and environmental consequences. This work aimed to analyze the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on global commercial air transport with emphasis on the Ecuadorian case. To develop the research, a review of recent publication sources available in Google academic, Latindex, Redalyc, Medline and Scielo was carried out; publications in English and Spanish were considered, through descriptors associated with the subject treated. Se found that the pandemic triggered financial consequences on airlines operating commercial flights, including some on the verge of bankruptcy, especially in the second half of 2020, when the airports maintained closure of operations by decision of the competent authorities; therefore, it is necessary that companies in this sector take the forecasts to successfully face the occurrence of new situations that will surely occur in the future. Keywords: Pandemic, Air transport, Social estinement, Health. Las pandemias son fenómenos que forman parte de la historia del mundo, trayendo consecuencias sanitarias, socio-económicas y ambientales. Este trabajo tuvo como objetivo analizar el impacto de la pandemia del COVID-19 en el transporte aéreo comercial mundial con énfasis en el caso ecuatoriano. Para desarrollar la investigación se efectuó una revisión de fuentes de publicación reciente disponibles en Google académico, Latindex, Redalyc, Medline y Scielo; se consideraron publicaciones en inglés y castellano, por medio de descriptores asociados al tema tratado. Se encontró que la pandemia desencadenó consecuencias financieras en las aerolíneas que operan vuelos comerciales, incluso, algunas al borde de la quiebra, especialmente en la segunda mitad del 2020, cuando los aeropuertos mantenían cierre de operaciones por decisión de las autoridades competentes; por lo cual, resulta necesario que las empresas de este sector tomen las previsiones para enfrentar exitosamente la ocurrencia de nuevas situaciones que seguramente se presentarán a futuro Palabras clave: Pandemia, Transporte aéreo, Distanciamiento social, Salud. |
