Popis: | The transition to CO2-neutral propulsion in the maritime sector involves the phasing out of fossil fuels. Methanol is a suitable “green fuel” candidate, but its hampered autoignition properties place new demands on Compression Ignition (CI) engines. A versatile research engine located at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) is used to study the properties of methanol combustion in a compression ignition engine that is equipped with a normal compression ratio. An ignition promoter (alcohol-fuel additive) is used to ease the autoignition and to maintain the mono-fuel configuration. |
