Popis: | This short article assesses the awareness of patients with glaucoma and their opthalmologists of their legal obligations under the Road Traffic Act 1988. Glaucoma falls within the definition of being a condition that either affects the patient's fitness to drive, or which may do so in the future. It must be reported to the agency regardless of visual loss. Brief details are provided of a questionnaire sent to 186 patients attending the glaucoma department of Birmingham and Midland Eye Hospital during November 1992. The results are tabulated and discussed. Further commentary is provided by Margaret Hawkins of the Drivers Medical Unit at the Driver and Vehicle Licencing Agency. |
