Popis: The regularity of carbon steels passivation and local activation in borate-sulphate solutiones at room temperature were analyzed. Pits on iron are initiating on ferrite/cementite interface. On carbon steel surface was observed the spots representing the uniformly dissoluble pearlite grain. So necessary to note that high carbon content in alloys decrease their corrosion stability under local destruction conditions.
