Popis: | Phosphatidylcholines with saturated branched fatty acyl chains substituted in the 2-positions of the main chains have a significant stimulating effect on both the side chain cleavage activity of cytochrome P450SCC and the ability of P450SCC to induce a specific vesicle aggregation in lipid-vesicle reconstituted systems. Stimulation increases with increasing content of the branched phosphatidylcholines and is sensitive to its acyl chain structure and composition. Because branched phosphatidylcholines containing 2-alkyl substituted fatty acid chains belong to a new class of phosphatidylcholines forming inverted nonbilayer phases the results indicate that nonbilayer lipids might play an important role in the function of mitochondrial P450SCC. |
