Popis: | Pancreatic vein blood was collected from six conscious, unstressed dogs with chronic indwelling silastic catheters in the splenic vein. Periinflammatory changes of the vessel wall ultimately led to thrombosis. Following glucose administration, a biphasic pattern of insulin release was readily observed. Insulin in peripheral vein blood did not accurately reflect release from the pancreas because of changes produced by liver insulinases and other damping effects. |
