Popis: | A 24-year-old white female intravenous heroin user with osteogenesis imperfecta presented with a 3-day history of diminished level of consciousness. On physical examination, she was febrile to 39.1?C, tachycardic (pulse rate, 120 beats per minute), and had a blood pressure of 100/55 mm Hg. She was cachectic, with no evidence of recent trauma or oral thrush. She had pronounced nuchal rigidity, was mute with poor cooperation, had intermittent choreiform movements of the right arm, and had generalized hyperreflexia with bilateral ankle clonus and Babinski signs. Routine serological test results were within normal ranges, including a WBC count of 8500 cells/mm3 and a serum glucose level of 76 mg/dL. Serological test results were negative for HIV |
