Popis: Background: The present study was undertaken to determine the role of the stainless steel locking compression plates in the treatment of the comminuted metaphyseal and diaphyseal fractures of femur and tibia using Bridging plate technique. Material & Methods: This study was done both retrospectively and prospectively in the Department of Orthopaedics and Trauma Centre in J. A. Group of Hospitals, Gwalior (M. P.) from September 2013 to September 2015 among the cases who had comminuted fractures of metaphysis and diaphysis of femur and tibia, were operated with stainless steel bridging plate. Results: The present study consists of 68 cases with with the fracture being most common in the 2nd and 4th decade. 59 (87%) patients were males and 9 (13%) patients were females. There were 47 (69%) patients with right sided fractures 21 (31%) patients with left sided fractures. 58 (86%) of patients sustained injury following road traffic accidents and 7 (10%) patient sustained injury following fall and 3 patients sustained firearm injury. Among the total, 26 had comminuted distal femur fractures,26 had comminuted Proximal tibia fractures and 16 had Comminuted distal tibia fractures. 54 (79%) cases were closed fractures and 14 (21%) cases were open fractures. In our study ,11 (16%) patients had excellent outcome (score 85-100), 45 (66%) had good results (score 70-85), 09 (13%) had fair outcome (score 50-70) and 3 (5%) patient had a poor result (score
