Popis:	Tosyl cyanide is activated by titanium(IV) chloride to generate a tolylsulfinyl chloride equivalent, which readily stereo- and regio-specifically adds to certain alkenes to provide β-chlorosulfoxides. These chlorides rapidly hydrolyse on silica gel to provide β-hydroxysulfoxides in stereocontrolled manner.
