The various factors that influence the defluoridation efficiency of the material were studied. Adsorption obeyed both Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models. Various thermodynamic parameters such as ΔGº, ΔHº and ΔSº were calculated indicating that this system was a spontaneous one and endothermic in nature. FTIR studies showed the involvement of hydroxyl group on the surface in the adsorption interaction.
