Popis: | 22 patients with staphylococcal infections were treated with cephalexin sodium for parenteral use. The concentrations of cephalexin in serum following intravenous or intramuscular injections reached high levels, exceeding the required MIC values during 4–6 hours. Clinical improvement occurred in 95%. The causative agent was eradicated in 16/20 patients (80%). No haematological, hepatic or renal abnormalities attributable to cephalexin were seen during treatment or later. Mild thrombophlebitis was observed in 2 patients. During intramuscular treatment half of the patients complained of local pain, which could be avoided by dissolving cephalexin in lignocaine hydrochloride. |
