Popis: | Isolated thymocytes and erythrocytes of mice were incubated at 37°C in calcium-free Krebs-Ringer phosphate buffer for 6 hours after x-irradiation. The activities of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) released into the surrounding medium and of that enzyme remaining within the cells were determined at various time intervals of incubation. The release of LDH from the thymocytes exposed to 1000 R of x-radiation remained unchanged during the first 3 hours of incubation but thereafter increased markedly as compared with that from the control cells. This radiation-induced release of LDH ran almost parallel with an increasing number of dead cells, as identified by the differential staining with erythrosin B. The loss of LDH from the thymocytes increased with increasing dose up to 600 R, but showed no further increase with doses above 600 R. In the case of erythrocytes, there was no significant difference in the release of LDH and hemoglobin between unirradiated and irradiated cells. The liberation of LDH from erythrocy... |
