Popis: | The aim of this study was to determine the moderating effects of sociodemographic characteristics, substance use, and psychosocial problems on the relationship between perceived gambling availability and problem gambling severity. Bivariate and multivariate regression analyses of the 2008 and 2009 Social and Economic Impacts of Gambling in Alberta surveys found problem gambling severity was 1.25-1.39 times higher for those reporting gambling opportunities were 'too widely available'. Factors such as age, gender, place of residence, and psychosocial problems had significant moderating effects. Our findings indicate that the perception of gambling availability has a statistically significant impact on problem gambling severity. |
