Popis: Fast advances in several signal processing techniques, along with cost-effective digital technologies for their implementation, are ready to address important manufacturing and machine monitoring issues for which no solution currently exists. Among new technologies are advances in wavelet and time-frequency signal analysis. By virtue of their ability to characterize both transient phenomena and persistent harmonic structure, they appear well-matched to the signals associated with rotating machinery. Other recent developments, such as higher-order spectral theory, could also possibly contribute in these applications.
