| Popis: | Peritonitis simply means inflammation of the peritoneum. Most surgical cases of peritonitis arise secondary to bacterial contamination of the peritoneal cavity by organisms derived from the gastrointestinal tract. This common form of acute peritonitis is described in detail in this article, while other less common forms are discussed briefly. |
