Popis: | SummaryTetracycline administration to adult rats (250 mg per kg i.m.) was associated with impaired intestinal absorption of fat (as 131I triolein) fatty acids (as 131I oleic) and radioactive iron. The jejunal mucosa of the treated animals was microscopically normal and without lipid accumulation. D-xylose absorption appeared to be increased as the result of tetracycline treatment since urinary excretion was significantly greater than that of control. Vitamin B12 absorption was not affected. Possible mechanisms accounting for this differential effect are discussed. |
