Popis:	The approach for transforming the existing manufacturing system in the machine-building industry into a new kind of decentralized manufacturing system is presented. The main idea is to replace existing enterprises (factories, plants, etc.) with an integrated manufacturing system (IMS) which combines a set of relatively independent (in an economic sense) specialized manufacturing modules (SMM) which interconnect with each other as supplier and consumer. This IMS is directly market-oriented, reacting quickly to market changes. We show the possibility of creating a programmable network of IMS such that market changes (i.e. changes in final product demand) as a rule lead only to new relations between SMMs.
