Popis: The paper presents Teaching General History of the New Age 2 (19th century) that is offered to the third year students at the Department of History, Faculty of Philosophy, Niš, and points to the differences, especially the chronological ones, among the courses held under the given name at various Serbian universities. It focuses on the analysis of the content and aims of the course, as well as of the literature recommended for the course, presenting thereby all the changes that have been implemented in accordance with the Bologna process. The paper also points to a possible alternative approach to the content covered in the course (such as an attempt to introduce a topical rather than chronological approach to the key events from the period, to explain the key events from the period through the actions of great historical figures that the 19th century had in abundance). The paper also addresses the objectives of the course, i.e. the knowledge and the skills students are expected to have gained by the end of the course.
