Popis: Heavy metals like zinc are encapsulated in ironsulphide minerals (Pyrite). Nitrate addition to soils may change the environmental conditions so that the ironsulphides can be oxydized, which increases the mobility of zinc. The oxidation process in a soil was described with a multi-component transport model, and results (high zinc concentrations in the subsoil) correspond qualitatively to field measurements.
