Popis: | Chirothrips pretorianus Hood Chirothrips pretorianus Hood, 1953: 110. Described from South Africa, this species is also known from Kenya and Yemen (zur Strassan 1990) and is new Saudi Arabia. This species is very similar to another African species, C. egregius, from which it is distinguished by less elongate anterior margin of head in front of eyes from 5–14 µm (in contrast to 19–34 µm) (zur Strassen 1960).
