Popis: | In Western countries, Cryptosporidium parvum infection is considered a rare opportunistic parasitic disease, most commonly seen in immunocompromised patients. Although most cases have been described in Acquired ImmunoDeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) patients, an increase of cases in other immunocompromised patients has been noted. We hereby describe the case of two patients from our institution in Northern France with heavily pre-treated multiple myeloma, both of whom underwent allogeneic stem cell transplants, who presented late Cryptosporidium infections while treated on novel agents. These cases illustrate novel examples of infection in multiple myeloma as survival improves and novel treatment approaches are being applied. |
