Popis: Introduction and Background: Although there are studies comparing functional impairments between the individuals with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome(OSAS) and healthy subjects, there is a lack of study in the literature comparing the changes in the degree of impairments in pulmonary in different degrees of severity of OSAS. Aim and Objectives: The aim of this study was to compare pulmonary functions, peripheral muscle strength and postural impairments in different degrees of severity of OSAS. Methods: This cross-sectional study included 50 patients with OSAS between 30-60 years old. The patients were divided to three groups according to their apnea-hypopnea index scores. Spirometry measurements was done.Quadriceps muscle strength was measured with Biodex isokinetic dynamometer. Postural impairments were assessed with posture analysis were done. Results: The FEV1/FVC(%) of mild group was significantly lower than moderate group and FEV1/FVC(%) and FEF25-75%(%) of moderate group was significantly lower than severe group (p Conclusions: Respiratory functions and peripheral muscle strength decreases in OSAS as the disease severity increase but the postural impairmens are comparable between different stages of disease.
