Popis: | It seems intuitively a preposterous proposal that human activities might cause long-term changes in the structure of the earth's atmosphere of sufficient scope to create serious environmental and public-health problems. Yet, since the first postulate that exhausts from high-altitude aircraft might affect the stratosphere, it has become apparent that such a proposal cannot be taken lightly.* The principal concern to date has been the possibility that man can reduce the ozone content of the stratosphere by activities such as the release of certain fluorocarbons used primarily as aerosol propellants and as fluids in air conditioning and refrigeration.
