Popis: En la literatura es escaza la caracterización de los efectos adversos relacionados con opioides endovenosos para dolor agudo en la población anciana. Objetivo: Mapear la evidencia de efectos adversos relacionados con opioides parenterales para dolor agudo en pacientes ancianos. Metodología: Revisión ampliada de la literatura. Los componentes de la pregunta de investigación fueron: pacientes igual o mayores a 65 años de edad, descripción o análisis de efectos adversos de opioides administrados por vía parenteral. Se tuvieron en cuenta variables relacionadas con el dolor. Se identificaron los desenlaces asociados al efecto adverso, el análisis o no de interacciones farmacológicas y variables sociodemográficas como la raza, el estrato social, el acceso de red de apoyo y el antecedente de uso de opioides. Se realizó la búsqueda en base de datos PUBMED, COCHRANE, EMBASE, Scopus y en literatura gris, sin ninguna restricción de idioma. Resultados: Se obtuvieron 35 estudios. El país que mas reporto fue Estados Unido (40%). El opioides mas frecuentemente formulado fue fenatnilo en el 42% de los estudios (n=15). El efecto adverso mas frecuentemente encontrado fueron los relacionados con el tracto gastrointestinal en 37% de los artículos. Las comorbilidades mas asociada fueron de tipo cardiovascular. El 5.71% (n=2) reportó el estrato sociodemográfico de los pacientes. Conclusión: Se presentó una descripción de la cantidad, tipos de estudios, desenlaces, tipo de población, alrededor de efectos adversos relacionados con opioides parenterales para dolor agudo en pacientes de 65 años o mas. Background: Characterization of adverse effects related to intravenous opioids for acute pain in the elderly population is sparse in the literature. Objective: To map the evidence of adverse effects related to parenteral opioids for acute pain in elderly patients. Methodology: Scooping review of literature. The components of the research question were patients equal to or older than 65 years of age, description or analysis of adverse effects of parenterally administered opioids. Pain-related variables were taken into account. The outcomes associated with the adverse effect, the analysis or not of pharmacological interactions and sociodemographic variables such as race, social stratum, access to support network and history of opioid use were identified. We searched PUBMED, COCHRANE, EMBASE, Scopus and gray literature databases, without any language restriction. Results: Thirty-five studies were obtained. The country that reported the most was the United States (40%). The most frequently formulated opioid was phenatnyl in 42% of the studies (n=15). The most frequently encountered adverse effect were those related to the gastrointestinal tract in 37% of the articles. The most frequently associated comorbidities were cardiovascular. The sociodemographic stratum of the patients was reported in 5.71% (n=2). Conclusion: A description of the number, types of studies, outcomes, type of population, and adverse effects related to parenteral opioids for acute pain in patients aged 65 years or older was presented.
