Popis: | M 0 D E R N obstetrical practice requires effective and safe analgesia for labor and parturition. The ever-increasing armamentarium of analgesic agents at the obstetrician’s disposal poses a perplexing problem in deciding which drug, or combination of drugs, is best. The ideal agent is yet undiscovered. The phenothiazine derivatives in the past several years have been used as obstetrical analgesia. It is the purpose of this paper to report the results of evaluation of propiomazine hydrochloride for antepartum and intrapartum sedation and analgesia. In addition, the potentiating effect on meperidine was studied. The neonatal response was recorded. Intravenous and intramuscular administration of the drug were compared. Finally, all side effects were evaluated. |
