Popis:	The histological evidence for the existence of motor initial collaterals is contradictory and insufficient. The literature is reviewed. Axons of 27 motoneurons of near term cat fetuses have been impregnated by the Golgi rapid method, and the stained structures described. A wide variety of collaterals occur randomly, mean 0.72 ± 0.12 collaterals per 100 μ. The evidence that impulses in initial collaterals of motor axons cause recurrent inhibition is discussed.
