Popis: | AMPHENONE was synthesized in 1950 by Allen and Corwin1 and has been shown to possess a high degree of biologic activity in animals2 3 4 and man.5 6 7 In animals the compound has been shown to affect the uterus and the thyroid and the adrenal glands. In man the studies carried out to date have been limited to its effects on the thyroid gland and on the adrenal cortex. The thyroid effects are qualitatively similar to those of thiourea and primarily result in inhibition of the organic binding of iodine.5 , 8 The adrenal effects appear at present to result from an inhibitory action of . . . |
