Popis: | Summary A case of severe facial pain that was directly related to periapical pathosis associated with a necrotic pulp of the mandibular left first molar has been reported. The periapical pathosis was serendipitously discovered by a technetium 99m bone scan ordered when the patient was thought to have a bony lesion as the primary etiology for episodes of acute pain. Following diagnosis and endodontic therapy, the patient became asymptomatic. The usefulness of radionuclide imaging has been discussed as an important adjunct to diagnosis and research. |
