Popis: | Previous investigations have shown that an ordered monolayer of sulphur on the {100} surfaces of small platinum particles can be observed directly by high-resolution electron microscopy. This study presents the results of extensive image simulations of different possible {100} overlayer structures and adsorbtion sites for both 〈100〉 and 〈110〉 oriented particles, the results of this confirming the sulphur present in the experimental images as a c(2 × 2) overlayer with a four-fold adsorbate site symmetry. |
