Popis: | Carbon dioxide emissions, global warming, ocean acidification, habitat destruction, extinction, and widescale natural resource extraction are all signs that we have significantly modified our planet, resulting in the need to consider the Anthropocene as a new geological era. CCS is an appropriate solution for reducing CO2 emissions in the Earth's atmosphere. Over the last 25 years, our teams have initiated several CCS projects, the latest being CO2-HyBrid, which strongly contributes to the decarbonization of the energy and industrial systems in a sustainable and resource-efficient way. In the first stage, membranes have a very low footprint and their operation is sustainable, as it has low energy consumption and no impurities in the main stream. In the second stage, the chemical absorption process has a higher rate of capturing CO2 with lower thermal energy consumption for the chemical solvent. Finally, the solution demonstrates reliability and flexibility, achieving CO2 quality suitable for storage. All our efforts significantly contribute to realizing the objectives of the well-known Paris Agreement. Although humanity has caused global warming, applying CCS can significantly reduce this phenomenon, making it a compelling argument for adopting the term Anthropocene to describe the effects of human actions on the Earth. Moreover, public acceptance is crucial for the implementation of CCS technology. The CO2 artificial deposits resulting from CCS are key elements of the Anthropocene, among others.
