Popis: | The purpose of the article is to analyze the documentary films produced by the Ukrainian Studio of Chronicle and Documentary Films within the period of 2004–2005 in the context of the development of genres in modern Ukrainian documentary filmmaking. The aim of the research is to identify the mutual influence of various artistic genres united in the documentaries. In this regard, the article describes the socio-cultural atmosphere and its impact on the main trends observed in the films created at the «Ukrkinokhronika» studio within the abovementioned period. The research methodology was based on the application of the contextual method, which provided for the analysis of the documentaries in the context of the reflection of the subjective model of the author’s vision of documentary filmmakers. This helped to consider the films through the prism of the artistic context and worldview criteria of modernity. The subject of the research was short documentaries directed by Valentyn Vasianovych («Against the Sun»), Artem Sukharev («Castles of Ukraine»), and Volodymyr Vasyliev («Moments of The Orange»). Conclusions. Through the analysis of the documentaries produced by one of the Ukrainian film studios, the author outlined the common tendency towards the modification of genres in modern documentary films, which rose to the level of works of art. This fact proves the presence of a high level of artistry among the millennial masters of documentary filmmaking. |
