This work aims to analyze the relationship between man and city in the work Quatrocentona: código de posturas & imposturas líricas da cidade de São Luís do Maranhão (2021) by Luís Augusto Cassas, a poet born in the city of São Luís - MA. The city of São Luís, founded in 1612, is known as the city of azulejos, which are part of the old decoration of the facades of the mansions and for its colonial paving, secular churches, monuments, fountains, streets, alleys, among others, concentrated in the historic center of the capital, whose landscape is resignified by the lyrical self of the work Quatrocentona. The city's architectural landscape is increasingly changing due to modern life, which has influenced the relationship that man establishes with it, a fact that motivated us to investigate the work in question from a memorialist perspective. In this sense, the following questions are worth asking: how are the urban facts of the São Luís heritage collection re-signified by the impressions of the lyrical self? How does the lyrical self-give relevance to the memory of the city and the customs and traditions of the place? How does the lyrical self relate to the city? The research is based on the thinking of Abreu (1998), Bosi (2003), Benjamim (1994), Gomes (2008), and Santos (2015) |
