Popis: | The holotype specimen of the discredited “kalkowskyn”, from Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais, Brazil, was investigated by EDS and X-ray powder diffraction. It consists of a mixture of pseudorutile, rutile, and hematite, probably generated by alteration of ilmenite. Intergrowths of rutile and hematite, with exsolution textures, were interpreted to have formed from pseudorutile. Associated minerals are quartz, almandine, muscovite, monazite-(Ce), and zircon. |
