Popis: | Several benefits have contributed to the increasing popularity of bike-share systems in cities around the world. In addition to traffic congestion, environmental concerns are also compelling cities to seek more sustainable modes of transportation. A key factor in the efficacy of bike-share networks is the location of bike stations in relation to potential related criteria. Therefore, site suitability analysis for bike-share stations using quantitative methods is essential. This study attempted to evaluate the current status of bike-share stations in Karsiyaka, Izmir, and to locate future station sites by comparing them to existing stations. To do so, different multi-criteria decision-making methods were combined with a geographic information system (GIS) to address twelve conflicting criteria. Specifically, the analytic hierarchy process was applied to obtain criteria weights, and multi-objective optimization by ratio analysis was used to evaluate current and potential alternatives. Our study demonstrates the superiority of the suggested locations compared to the existing stations. (C) 2018 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved. |
